Be sure that this is the proper time. Unfortunately, there's no timeline that says when the right time is for a couple to move in together. It will depend on how both sides feel. Both of you should be on a comparable page before you decide to join your households.
Decide where you would like to live. Though it may be simpler to move into one person's house, for many couples, it is wise to begin again in a new spot. Doing this, it'll always seem like home to both of you, as opposed to his (or her) apartment.
Should you opt to move into one person's home, will the other individual be at ease enough to make changes? When an individual moves into the other person's home, they may desire to make it feel much more like their place by bringing in their own personal furniture and moving several things around to generate space for their belongings. The other person needs to be in a position to meeting half way and enable the other one to make these modifications so both persons can be satisfied in their new home.
Don't hurry when going through your belongings. When blending two households, you are going to have ample items for the new (or existing home). Perhaps you are going to have two beds, two couches, and a lot of blankets. You will likely both have kitchen and bathroom items.
You do not have to have double of the things in your new place, and that means you are going to have to plod through everything to figure out what you are going to keep and what you will sell or give away. Certain sentimental pieces will have to stay but you could struggle to choose what furnishings you want to keep. You may have to make that call depending on which is in better shape or perhaps the one that will fit in your house better.
Do not be hesitant to check out storage. If you are truly unable to determine what to keep and do away with, you might need to lease a storage area for now. This could also be of assistance if you're planning on moving into a bigger home in the future. You may need the extra bed for guests when you're ready to purchase your next home. You might like to keep some of your sentimental belongings in storage until you have your man cave or she shack.
Talk about finances early. It is advisable to go over finances before you decide to move in together. You might want to use a joint checking account so that you can work together to cover the bills.
Then again, it may work better if you split up the bills, letting one person handle the rent, while the other covers the electricity, water, as well as other bills. You both have to be comfortable with how you will pay for your expenses prior to taking the next step.
Before you decide to move in together, you need to take the time and really examine it. You need to make certain that it's the best time for both of you.
